The Four Biomes — terrain is a weapon
The campaign spans four biomes on and around LV-558 (Wikipedia). Here's what's documented about the environments — and how terrain changes the fight, per hands-on coverage.
What's documented
Official structure: 15 missions, four biomes (Wikipedia), centered on the Storr Boon's Mining Facility. AvP Central's tracker additionally places an Engineer location in the game (site of the Queen's launch-trailer appearance), and official screenshots show industrial interiors, cave networks and surface exteriors.

How terrain changes the fight
- Tall industrial rooms (processors, refineries) give wall- and ceiling-crawling Xenos attack lanes (GamingBolt) — assign ceiling watch.
- Tight corridors favor lane control (Machinist) but turn Crusher charges deadly — sidestep space matters.
- Open ground favors ranged strains (Spitters, synthetic snipers, GamingBolt) — the new crouch mechanic (GamingBolt) earns its keep against synthetics.
- Vent networks mean nowhere is single-front (G2A) — rear security is a biome rule, not a mission modifier.
Prepare per biome
Match the squad to the terrain: mobile comps for vertical spaces, control comps for corridor holds, and special ammo staged for the faction mix. Start with the prologue walkthrough to see these rules in action.
