Buildcraft 101

Weapon Traits & Augments — the system that changes builds

The sequel's biggest buildcraft change: weapon traits aren't locked to the gun they came on. Documented from GamingBolt's hands-on — with every example trait cited.

Traits move between weapons

GamingBolt's hands-on confirms the headline mechanic: Weapon Traits can be swapped across different guns. A trait you earn on one weapon can be applied to another, which turns trait hunting into a collection game rather than a lucky-drop game.

Documented example traits

Source weaponTrait effect
Smartgun+15% aim assist
M41A2 Pulse Rifle−10% recoil
M4 pistolReduces spread

Examples as documented by GamingBolt's hands-on; "Standard Issue" was also shown as a trait. Exact trait values come from pre-release hands-on builds and may be tuned — we'll re-verify against live data.

Why this changes buildcraft

Augments, attachments and where they fit

Weapon customization in the sequel spans fire modes, Augments and Traits (G2A), with attachments sold by Wrench for Requisition Credits (GamingBolt). All of it feeds Combat Rating. The practical loop: level guns → harvest traits → slot attachments → watch the rating climb.
